PEATED BOURBON

It is whiskey that conforms to American legal requirements for bourbon but incorporates malted barley that has been smoked with peat, a tradition common to some Scotch whiskies. Our Peated Bourbon—the first we’re aware of—is made from 75% corn, 25% Scottish peated malt. If bourbon and scotch had a baby, this double-gold medal winner is what it would taste like.

“The dram is salt-forward from start to finish, interspersed with rich bursts of flavor. Hot rubber, pretzels, slightly bitter baker’s chocolate, warm leather, and hard candies define the palate...- peat is not a primary element, but it is clear that this is an exceptionally complex spirit.”

About the producer

Making Whiskey From Grain To Bottle

Kings County Distillery is New York City’s premier craft distillery and among the most acclaimed small distilleries in the United States. Focused exclusively on whiskeys, Kings County has made a name for its bourbon, moonshine, and other creative whiskeys. We only distil whiskey for our label and we never sell whiskey made from any other source. All the corn is 100% organic, and we don’t use GMO ingredients.

“We began by making whiskey at home. This gave us a chance to learn for ourselves what makes good whiskey—in some cases our answers confirmed conventional wisdom, but more often they turned it on its head. As a result, our whiskey is idiosyncratic; its taste reflects our values. We believe whiskey making is more than a business: it is an historical, agricultural, political, and gastronomical act. And it should be good fun.” —Colin Spoelman, Co-Founder and Master Distiller.
